About: A 2v2 padel tournament thrown to celebrate the debut of Obi's new single: 16 teams, four courts, and a live set from RUSH:HOUR running through the group stages and knockouts. All skill levels welcome; solo players were matched with a partner on the day.
Result: A full day of competitive padel and live music that brought players, spectators and brand partners onto the same courts, proof that LightWave can run a ticketed sports activation end to end, from bracket logistics to the live performance closing it out. Beyond the trophy, it did what a good event should do: people who arrived as strangers left having made real connections.
How it went
Doors opened at midday for registration and group stages across two courts, with RUSH:HOUR playing through the afternoon. Once knockouts began, all four courts opened up for quarters, semis and finals, every player guaranteed at least three matches. Miles took the tournament, winning two tickets to Reset Sauna. What stood out most was how hard people competed for it: real tension on court, close matches, and strangers who arrived solo left having swapped numbers with people they'd just played against. The day closed with Obi performing his new single live alongside Kah'Nya, followed by the trophy presentation. Food and drink came from Intune CBD Soda, Kiki's Slushies, Ngozi's Kitchen and Shot4Shot Padel, who also ran games and coaching on the side courts.
