Problem: A children’s TV show, funded by the British Film Institute (BFI), required engaging and thematic music that would captivate young audiences. They needed a full suite of compositions, from theme music to credits and background scores that matched the show’s vibrant, educational tone.
Result: The client was thrilled with the outcome, noting that our compositions significantly enhanced the show’s atmosphere. Test audiences responded positively, highlighting that the music made the viewing experience more engaging and helped young viewers connect with the educational content.
Approach
In 2024, LightWave was commissioned to compose the entire musical landscape for a BFI-funded children’s TV show. Our role spanned from creating the main theme and end credits to designing background scores that mirrored the show’s animated, fun, and educational spirit. We conducted in-depth research into popular children’s science shows, analyzing both classic and contemporary trends. From this, we crafted a musical palette that included lively tempos, bright orchestration, and playful melodies to align perfectly with the on-screen animation and storytelling. Our approach ensured the music wasn’t just background noise but an integral part of the show’s charm and educational value.
